Dear All,

The next HPC training will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 10:00 AM CST
in 307 Frey and broadcast through Adobe Connect for remote users.

Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014: Practical Programming in C/C++ I
Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014: Practical Programming in C/C++ II
Schedule:
Training Lecture: 10AM - 12:30 PM
Hands-On and Consultation: 1:30PM - 4PM
C/C++ and Fortran are among the most commonly used programming languages
on HPC (high performance computing) systems. This two-part training on C
/C++ will provide a brief introduction to the C/C++ programming
language. The first part will cover basic syntax and grammar. The second
part will focus on more advanced concepts which lead to practical
programming techniques especially useful for scientific research and
engineering. /No prior programming background is expected for the first
day./ This a two day training event held on Feb 12 and 26.
*Prerequisites*: /A laptop with GCC/Intel/PGI C/C++ compiler or SSH
client to connect to a remote computer such as LSU HPC or LONI with
GCC/Intel/PGI C/C++ compiler installed./ /See Note below./

Next HPC Training:
Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014: Modern Fortran I
Wednesday, Mar. 12, 2014: Modern Fortran II
Schedule:
Training Lecture: 10AM - 12:30 PM
Hands-On and Consultation: 1:30PM - 4PM
This two part training provides a general Introduction to Modern
Fortran. Topics covered include data types, program structure,
input/output, control structures, program units, operator overloading,
and time permitting object oriented concepts. /No prior programming
background is expected for the first day./ This a two day training event
held on Feb 19 and Mar 12.
*Prerequisites*: /A laptop with GCC/Intel/PGI Fortran compiler or SSH
client to connect to a remote computer such as LSU HPC or LONI with
GCC/Intel/PGI Fortran compiler installed. See Note below.//

*Note: We are currently working on finalizing the program schedule for
3rd Annual HPC Week to be held on June 2-6, 2014 consisting of the LONI
Parallel Programming Workshop and the HPC User Symposium. Users who plan
on attending the LONI Parallel Programming Workshop to held on June 2-4,
2014 and are not proficient with C/C++ or Fortran Programming must
attend the training on C/C++ or Fortran Programming.**Details regarding
the **3rd Annual HPC Week will follow as soon as the program schedule is
finalized.* If you attend one of these trainings, please make sure that
you are signed in each day (if on connect, make sure that your name
matches your registration information, no nicknames please) to complete
the prerequisite for the Workshop registration.

Please visit http://www.hpc.lsu.edu/training/tutorials.php for more
details and register using the link provided.

Please see the system requirements for Adobe Connect at
