[LA-SiGMA] Two important events

Dear LA-SiGMA participants:

This email pertains to all participants (faculty, post-docs, graduate 
students, & undergraduate students) in the LA-SiGMA project.  There 
are two important events that we urge you to participate in:

*1.  The All-Hands Meeting to be held Saturday, May 28 at the 
Claiborne State Office Building in downtown Baton Rouge. At this 
meeting,  there will be a series of presentations by the team leads, 
a poster session, and breakout discussions to decide next steps. We 
realize that this meeting has been scheduled for the Memorial Day 
weekend, but please make every effort to attend.

*2.  The LA-SiGMA Symposium, to be held Friday, August 5 at the same 
location.  This meeting will include a visit by an external review 
team who will provide feedback about the project. The proceedings of 
this symposium will be a series of four-page papers describing 
research being undertaken. A poster corresponding to each paper will 
be presented and a competition for the best posters held, judged by 
the external review team. This symposium will also likely be attended 
by NSF Program Officers, members of the statewide EPSCoR Committee, 
and other major stakeholders.

The LA-SiGMA project is part of the largest NSF grant the State of 
Louisiana has ever received; it is vital that everyone involved in 
this project fully participates in these activities to ensure success.
