As part of the CUDA research center program, NVIDIA is sending one CUDA 
fellow to have a one day hands-on workshop at LSU. Please take a look at 
the brief bio of the two CUDA fellows in Jim's email and let Wei and I 
know if you have a strong preference on either one.

NVIDIA is willing to send an NVIDIA scholar or internal expert to
conduct a 1 day hands-on workshop and a Symposium presentation as part
of the parallel programming workshop for HPC week. There is a push to
identify an individual as soon as possible because of their scheduling
demands. At the moment, we're thinking concentration should be along the
lines of Algorithms and Techniques, with examples taken from areas most
heavily applicable to work at LSU and LONI. Two names have been
recommended so far, and both overlap will with work here. Below are the
names and some of the topics they've worked on (might be fields examples
could be drawn from, or could serve as a focused presentation during the
User Symposium):

John Owens, UC Davis - Efficient conditional operations; Map-reduce; 2-D
shallow water solvers; 2-D compressible flow solvers; structured Grid

Lorena Barba, GWU - Petascale turbulance solvers using highly parallel
fast multipole methods (FMM); FMM vortex methods; biomolecular
electrostatics with PyGBe (Python Poisson-Boltzmann solver with boundary
elements); Flying snake wake visualization with cuIBM; Binding energy of
trypsine-BPTI complex with PyGBe and APBS (adaptive Poisson-Boltzmann

The intent is not to lock in specific details of the workshop or
presentation now, but to identify who may overlap best with work here.
Any comments or opinions would be appreciated, given the short fuse we
seem to be under.
