[LA-SiGMA-funded] Student Retreat

Dear LA-SiGMA graduate students and postdocs,

    The second LA-SiGMA student retreat is scheduled for Monday, July
2nd at Tulane University. This should be a good opportunity for
professional development with Peter Feibelman (SNLA), the author of "A PhD
is not enough: A Guide To Survival In Science" (
http://www.amazon.com/PhD-Is-Not-Enough-Survival/dp/0201626632), as the
main guest speaker. Peter has provided career/professional
development advice to STEM graduate students at Harvard, MIT, the
University of Michigan, etc.
In addition to his talk, Peter Feibelman will spend two hours with
students fielding questions and eating lunch together.

    During the rest of the day you will have an opportunity to work on
your writing and public speaking skills. The agenda is still being
discussed, so, please make suggestions to Shelley.

225-578-0465) telling her about your travel plans, if you require lodging,
etc. To aid the organizers, it is important that you register by the end of
the day Monday, June 25.
