Dear All,
The schedule for the Spring 2018 HPC Training is available at http://www.hpc.lsu.edu/training/tutorials.php.
Our next HPC training will be held on Wednesday, February 28 at 9:00 AM in 307 Frey Computing Service Center and broadcast through WebEx for remote users.
Wednesday, February 28, 2018: Basic Shell Scripting
For anyone who works in a Linux/Unix environment, a working knowledge of shell scripting is essential and will boost their efficiency and productivity tremendously. For this tutorial, we will focus on bash as it is one of the most popular shells. This tutorial will include topics such as creating simple bash scripts, flow control, command line arguments, regex, grep, awk and sed. This is a practical tutorial, so we will provide examples and/or hands-on exercises for most of the covered materials.
Prerequisites: LONI or LSU HPC account, Familiarity with Linux/Unix, Editors such as vi or emacs, SSH client such as Putty/MobaXterm for Windows
Next HPC Training:
Wednesday, March 07, 2018: Hands-On Practice Session
This special training session will provide hands-on exercises demonstrating real world, very typical examples of using Linux, writing shell scripts and submitting jobs to the HPC clusters. We will also focus on different scenarios of running serial or parallel jobs typically encountered in users' routine job submissions. At the end of the training, attendees will be comfortable with running example jobs scripts and learn how to adapt these examples into their own domain specific tasks. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own job scripts or problems to the training session.
Prerequisites: Previous knowledge of Linux, basic shell scripting, HPC user environment 1 and 2 are assumed but not required.
Please visit http://www.hpc.lsu.edu/training/tutorials.php for more details and register using the link provided.
