[LA-SiGMA] HPC Training: Introduction to OpenFOAM

Dear All,

The Schedule for the Spring 2016 HPC Training is available at http://www.hpc.lsu.edu/training/tutorials.php.

Our next HPC training will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 9:00 AM in 307 Frey Computing Service Center and broadcast through WebEx for remote users. Note that all HPC trainings will start at 9:00AM.

Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016: Introduction to OpenFOAM
OpenFOAM is a free, open source Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software package developed by OpenCFD Ltd at ESI Group and distributed by the OpenFOAM Foundation. This training will provide a brief introduction to OpenFOAM and how to use OpenFOAM under HPC environment. This lecture will also cover an example on how to create new OpenFOAM solver application. No prior knowledge of OpenFOAM, C++ or Linux is required but some basic knowledge of Linux and programming is beneficial.
Prerequisites: Access to a computer with OpenFOAM (2.x.x or above preferred) installed. OpenFOAM is available on LSU SuperMikeII, SuperMIC and LONI QB2,

Wednesday, March 2, 2016: Introduction to R
R is a powerful language for data analysis. In this tutorial, you will learn the basics of R, including language fundamentals, basic programming and data visualization. A few examples of using R to process real-life data will be presented as well.
Prerequisites: Basic understanding of any programming language.
