Dear All,
The next HPC training will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 9:00 AM in
307 Frey and broadcast through Adobe Connect for remote users.
Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013: Shell Scripting II
Schedule:
Training Lecture: 9AM - Noon
Hands-On and Consultation: 1PM - 4PM
The second part of the Shell Scripting tutorial will cover advanced
topics such as regular expressions, using *nix utilities such as grep,
sed, split, cut, paste etc and the awk programming language which are
useful for data analysis and file manipulation. *This training is highly
advanced and users should be familiar with basic shell scripting
concepts covered in the first part of the tutorial held on Sep. 25*.

/For the hands-on exercises, attendees are welcome to bring their own
problems that can benefit from shell scripting./
*Prerequisite*: /Laptop with BASH installed i.e. Laptop with Linux, Mac
OSX or windows with Cygwin, familiarity with Linux/Unix command line and
using file editors such as vi/emacs. Attendees can use remote linux
resources such as LONI or LSU HPC if they do not have a Laptop with BASH./

Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013: Introduction to Perl
Schedule:
Training Lecture: 9AM - Noon
Hands-On and Consultation: 1PM - 4PM
This training gives a brief introduction to the perl programming
language, writing perl scripts, installing and using perl modules.
*Prerequisites*: /Access to a computer with Perl installed./
/Beginning Fall 2013, we have changed the format of our Weekly Trainings
due to frequent requests from attendees for longer time slots to
complete hands-on exercises. Trainings begin at 9AM until Noon or
earlier. After a break for lunch, attendees are welcome to sit in 307
Frey or join remotely via adobe connect (link provided in the
registration confirmation email) to complete the hands-on exercises
until 4PM. HPC User Services Consultants will be available to help out
with the exercises, answers questions related to the morning training
session and also provide in person general consultation (topics
unrelated to the training) on a case-by-case basis. Please fill out
surveys for previous trainings that you might have attended at
