[LA-SiGMA] HPC Training: Introduction to LaTeX

Dear All,

We have a few trainings scheduled for the 2013 Summer semester. All 
Trainings will be held on Wednesdays at 10AM in 307 Frey CSC and 
broadcast through Adobe Connect for remote users.

Wednesday, June 26, 2013: Introduction to LaTeX
LaTeX is a document markup language and document preparation system for 
the TeX typesetting program. LaTeX is widely used in academia for 
writing reports, thesis, journal papers, presentations and posters.
Prereqs:
   Users need to install TeXLive from http://www.tug.org/texlive, MikTeX 
(Windows, http://miktex.org/) or MacTeX-2013(MacOSX, 
http://www.tug.org/mactex/) on their laptops. Alternatively, please 
download and install the virtual image from 
http://www.hpc.lsu.edu/training/archive/downloads.php. If you prefer not 
to install LaTeX, writeLaTeX ( https://www.writelatex.com/) is a free 
service that lets you create, edit & share your scientific ideas easily 
online.

Wednesday, July 3, 2013: Introduction to High Performance Computing
This training will introduce you to HPC resources for research and 
concepts needed to use these resources. You do not need to have a LONI 
or LSU HPC account to attend this training. Instructions for requesting 
accounts and allocations will be provided in this training.

Wednesday, July 10, 2013: HPC User Environment
This training provides an overview of the User environment and running 
jobs on HPC systems.
Prereqs:
   This training requires a LONI or LSU HPC account. No Training 
accounts will be provided.

The last two training sessions are mandatory for new and prospective users.
