The Department of Physics at Northeastern University invites applications for a tenure track position in computational materials physics to begin September 2012. A senior appointment at the tenured level is also possible for a highly qualified individual. Candidates with both theoretical and computational expertise in research areas broadly related to the storage, transfer, production and efficient use of energy, as well as the structure and function of biologically inspired and biological materials are strongly encouraged to apply. This position is part of a new multi-year University-wide initiative in computational science and engineering that includes the strategic objective of ‘Materials by Design’ and is synergistic with the University’s investment in the Holyoke Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center. The successful applicant is expected to have a PhD in Physics, although closely related areas will also be considered. He/she is expected to establish an independent externally funded
research program at Northeastern University and to teach effectively undergraduate and graduate physics courses. Application materials should include a curriculum vitae, a description of the candidate’s research interests, and at least three letters of recommendation.
