> this Friday August 2 is the 20th annual installment of the LSU Summer Undergraduate Research Forum. The centerpiece of SURF is the afternoon poster session, this year featuring the research of more than 150 undergraduate students from LSU, other Louisiana institutions, and colleges and universities across the U.S.  For the second year, SURF will also feature a morning session of three speakers (a current graduate student who is a recent Fulbright recipient; a newly-minted PhD studying the effects of the BP oil spill on fish; and a new assistant professor researching interactive computing technology), who will share stories about their graduate studies at LSU and their evolving careers. 
> The attached flyer highlights the poster session, which occurs in the LSU Union Cotillion Ballroom from 1 - 4 PM.
> 
> Our summer science program participants have spent the past 10 weeks working with LSU researchers across a variety of disciplines.  In many cases, these students come from small schools and underrepresented groups, such that their summer program participation at LSU represents a unique experience. On behalf of the directors, coordinators, and staff of the various LSU summer science programs and our faculty mentors, we would be pleased to have you join us at SURF and spend time meeting these promising young researchers.
