We will have our weekly TESC seminar this Thursday (7/9) at 11:30am in 108B Digital Media Center.

Dr. Jinghua Ge, an IT consultant at Advanced Visualization Service at CCT, will be presenting. The title of her talk is "Visualization services at CCT".

Abstract:
One of the most important tasks of visualization services is to explore visualization tools and libraries, both mature and trending, use them in visualization projects in order to find efficient ways for LSU researcher's visualization needs. In this talk Jinghua will try to cover many of these tools and libraries have been using, talk about their usage in her existing and ongoing projects. These tools include sciviz software Avizo, VisIt, Paraview, Provenance workflow software VisTrails, intelligent graphing on cloud services plotly, tableau, 2D and 3D dataviz libraries D3, JSmol, WebGL, etc. She will also talk about interactive computing with plotting system, such as IPython, RStudio, they are in similar style as Matlab and Mathematica, but free, with broader community support, and stronger growth. Jinghua will introduce how these software are used in her collaborating research projects, teaching/training, outreach efforts and some research proposals. The goal is to encourage a discussion with LaSigma researchers, find out what's the goals in visualization and explore potential ways to achieve them.
