Dear LA-SiGMA graduate students, postdocs,

      LA-SiGMA grant has a strong outreach component. We were successful in getting
the award partly due to our strong commitment to outreach to all levels of the
educational ladder. Graduate students, postdocs and faculty have to contribute
towards the outreach goals of the award. Otherwise, we will jeopardize our renewal
and, as consequence, your assistantships next year. Please, make an effort to help
with our booth at "Super Science Saturday" on Saturday October 27, 2012 from 10am-2:30pm.

      Super Science Saturday is an event geared towards K-12 students and their parents,
around 1,600 visitors are expected to attend the event this year. We need volunteers
to show demonstrations at the LA-SiGMA booth. We will use Nano Days demonstration kits.
Those include complete instructions, so, anybody can run the demos without any previous
technical knowledge. The shifts will be:

930am-12pm (need 5 volunteers) with free pizza lunch after shift
12pm-3pm (need 5 volunteers) with free pizza lunch before shift

      The shifts are a little longer to help with setting up and taking down the
demonstrations.

      Please email Leigh Townsend at lgalat1 at tigers.lsu.edu with your availability for
the shifts by Thursday at noon, we'll need your help to make the LA-SiGMA booth and
Super Science Saturday a success!
