Dear all,
The Bluewaters Consortium is hosting two Virtual schools at LSU.
The first one on GPUs, CUDA and heterogeneous computing begins July 10th:
Programming Heterogeneous Parallel Computing Systems. This will be a
very good workshop taught by top experts on GPU programming.
Mark and I encourage you to register for the "Programming Heterogeneous
Parallel Computing Systems" as soon as possible. The workshop changes every
year, so, even if you attended last summer, I am sure you will find it
interesting.
The LA-SiGMA award at LSU will cover the $100 registration fee for
LA-SiGMA students and postdocs. Just let Bety Rodriguez-Milla
<brodrig at cct.lsu.edu> know when you complete your registration.
Best regards,
Juana

***REMINDER -- training opportunities located at LSU CCT
for faculty, researchers and students***
The Virtual School of Computational Science and Engineering (VSCSE) is
excited to announce three Summer School courses for 2012. The VSCSE
provides courses and learning resources to help computational science
students use emerging petascale computing resources to address real
domain science problems. The summer courses for 2012 are:
Programming Heterogeneous Parallel Computing Systems (July 10 - 13, 2012)--**located at LSU CCT
Science Cloud Summer School (July 30 - August 3, 2012)--**located at LSU CCT
Proven Algorithmic Techniques for Many-core Processors (August 13 - 17, 2012)
These courses will be delivered to a number of sites nationwide using
high definition video conferencing technologies, allowing students to
travel to a number of convenient locations where they will be able to
work with a cohort of fellow computational scientists, have access to
local experts and interact virtually with course instructors.
Registration fees for these courses are $100* and help the host sites
offset their hospitality and facility costs.
Please visit http://www.vscse.org/summerschool/2012/ for more
information and the full site list or http://hub.vscse.org to register
today!
*Departmental account numbers will be accepted for registration fees. Contact kjones at lsu.edu for more information.

Science Cloud Summer School
July 30 – August 3, 2012
The Science Cloud Summer School targets education and training of graduate students and the fostering of a community around a topic that has increasing interest and relevance: the use of cloud computing technologies in science - including infrastructure-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service. Because cloud computing systems and technologies provide a considerable departure from traditional models and evolve at a rapid pace, this event would provide a basis for students to immerse in a focused, intensive curriculum to learn fundamentals and experiment with these technologies in practice. We will cover topics of interest to students with both application and computer science focus.
