[LaSiGMA-funded] LA-SigMA and the NSF Data Management Plan

Dear All,
For those of you who were at the LA-SigMA Strategic Planning meeting yesterday in Baton Rouge, a discussion was initiated yesterday on how to bring us into compliance with the upcoming NSF Data Management requirements (see www.nsf.gov/bfa/dias/policy/dmp.jsp). While this is technically not a current requirement for LA-SigMA since it was awarded before the requirement comes into effect, it is felt that since LA-SigMA is funded as a cooperative agreement rather than a standard grant that the data management requirements could be imposed. I know at Tulane discussions have been carried out in the upper administration about our compliance plans and this has likely happened at your individual institutions as well. LONI may have some capability to contribute to data archiving. We would like to open up the discussion to the wider LA-SigMA participants to find out how your institutions are responding to the data management plan and how you believe LA-SigMA should participate. I have sent an email to our vice president of research at Tulane to get more information on how Tulane plans on complying to this requirement and will be happy to interject this into the wider conversation as it progresses and a plan is formulated.
